PrinciplesOur campaign is guided by five distinct principles, the first being that country comes before party and public interest takes priority over any special interest.
First, we put our country above party and the public interest ahead of any special interest.
Government should represent “We, the people” –– not the party bosses or those who can buy access to power. As independents, we focus on doing what is right and working together to make progress toward our shared success.
Second, we use common sense and find common ground to solve problems.
We reject today’s zero sum politics. We will work together in a civil manner to get things done. We believe intellectual diversity is a strength rather than a weakness. As independents, we seek to understand all sides, follow the facts, identify root causes, explore areas of agreement, and make logical decisions.
Third, we stand for the timeless values of opportunity, equality, and stewardship.
We want to empower every American to realize their full potential, uphold equal rights for all under the law, and ultimately leave a stronger country for the next generation. We believe in both fiscal and environmental responsibility. As independents, we acknowledge the difficult issues that divide us while we focus on addressing the issues that can unite us.
Fourth, we champion competition, transparency, and accountability in politics.
Only through fundamentally changing the broken incentives of elected officials will we be able to truly confront any of the challenges we face. As independents, we support reforms to improve our political process –– including the way we fund campaigns, run elections, and operate government.
Fifth, we believe in the shared responsibility of civic engagement.
As Americans, we understand it is our civic duty to be informed and engaged on important issues. As independents, we encourage increased citizen participation in our political process and in service to our country.
